Flutterflies removable stickers have all the fun of stickers without making a mess on your walls or doors or whatever they end up getting stuck on.They can be repositioned over and over and still look like new. I know when my daughters were little they both loved their stickers. Things have been pretty busy around here lately. Lots of time working on new concepts to show you. Also we had quite the scare with our daughter Jasmyn. She had to have her appendix out and is now on the road to recovery and we’re glad that it’s over.It was very stressful at first when we didn’t know what was going on. She was in so much pain that we took her to the emergency. At first they weren’t sure what it was. The althrasound came back and only showed a lot of fluid so they also had to do an MRI. They thought if it was her appendix that it may have burst which can be very dangerous–luckily it didn’t.Thank God all is good now –today she is moving around like it didn’t even happen. Sometimes it’s so hard being a mother–the worries.

I’d like to introduce Beezzzzzzz. There are 11 bees approximately 2.5″ in size on the sticker sheet. What to say today. I seem to have posting block. I just talked about the weather yesterday and it’s pretty much the same–beautiful. Just enough rain to freshen things up. My presentations seem to be going on forever and lately I just haven’t done anything particularly interesting.The only thing I’ve done other than work and clean my house is to try finding a garbage can. We have this huge raccoon who keeps getting into our garbage and I have to say it’s très frustrating!! We got the cans with the clamps on the sides to hold the lid on and we put bungee  cords on them as well thinking this would definitely keep him out. So he can’t get into the cans but he’s getting close. He chewed the cords to smithereens and somehow he was able to pick out the little plastic plugs on the lids so now we have two can’s with holes in the lids. Doesn’t seem so bad except that the water and the fly’s got in which was a disgusting experience on garbage day–yuk. He’s so smart and so big, he’s about 150 lbs and when I look right at him and tap on the window with my disapproving look he just looks at me as if to say “Come on, I can take you” and I know he can. I’ve been to every store looking for the perfect cans how exciting is that–not. Anyone have a good solution? Please help I really want to move on!

I’d like to introduce some new designs that will be going in my Wall Art by the Bag section.
The first one I’m putting out there is called Button Knoze. My grand daughter Tatum (nine) loves them, My oldest daughter Jesseca said she thought they are a little creepy and that Tatum was just showing her dark side. My other daughter Jasmyn and her boyfriend Mike said in stereo ” They’re Ok” and Jasmyn added “What’s with your fasination with nostrils?” I pointed out that they are buttons and I got “oh”. My husband liked them because they are off the wall funny. So let me know what you think.

Hot and humid today and I love it. Feels like a real summer. Of course I have air-conditioning so I can get away from it when I’ve had enough. I do remember times when I didn’t and I’d be sitting directly in front of the big green box fan sucking on ice cubes and wishing for winter. Those days as a kid when I begged my mom to take us to the beach. It was never very hard with her because that was on the top of her favourite things to do list. We’d get out our beach blankets, towels and sun lotion and off we go!
Yes, today is a perfect beach day.

This is a time when people go camping or get together with family and friends for picnics in the parks or a day at the beach. It’s a weekend of carnival rides and fun food. A time to gather together with other families and friends at night to watch fireworks and caution their kids about the the potential dangers of sparklers. People everywhere with big smiles, laughing, and sharing good feelings together like many weekends of this kind before. A weekend of tradition and planned excitement that will go down in the memory books with all the others. One of the weekends in the year that contributes to the fun parts in life. For all of you that this is the case I wish a safe and happy weekend!

For the rest of you out there who might be more like me–a kind of hit and miss situation where some years at this time you are practically in the middle of the weekend before you realized you were suppose to have plans. Who for one reason or another never seem to have the capability to plan anything ahead of time, who depend on the organization skills and generosity of others who know how this is all suppose to be done– or maybe they gave up on you long ago so maybe it’s just you, or you and your cat or you and your husband like me and you simply don’t have the ambition or the energy to get out and do things like everyone else. I want you to know you aren’t alone. I am here sitting with my husband having coffee asking if we are going to see the fireworks this year? If we decide we will, we probably won’t–too many people we’ll decide after the fact. The people in paragraph one might think this is sad, or lazy or unpatriotic but to us this is the long weekend.

Because my product is mostly for kids I’d like to start having information on my blog that will be helpful for parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, babysitters and anyone else who may have children in their care at some point. These are the people who are visiting my website the most so I think it is a great opportunity to get the information out there. You never know when or where helpful words will make the difference.

Today I’d like to introduce Linda Hales, a good friend of mine and writer of children’s books.
Linda will be sharing her views on how to street proof our kids today.

In today’s world I think we are all trying to find that balance between letting our children explore the world around them so they develop into well rounded people and at the same time keep them safe from the all too real dangers out there. Linda is the type of person who truly wants to make a difference in the world. Her heart is with all things kids and so she has offered to share with us some of the knowledge she has picked up along the way about this subject.

Street proofing Your Kids!

Now this is a broad subject if there ever was one.  It is every parent’s #1 priority to keep their little ones safe, both indoors and especially when they first venture out beyond that great big door of curiosity.  When you think about it, we actually begin to teach safety at a very early age, perhaps as early as crawling when baby is able to access numerous objects to taste and explore, with the ever present danger of swallowing.  We start with the ‘no no’ and numerous other methods of making the object unattractive to the baby but surely there are an endless number of effective solutions that you, as a parent, have employed successfully.

And so we teach the child boundaries such as property lines, child gates and timeouts when they attempt to cross those barriers.  Whatever the methods we employ, nothing replaces caution like supervision.  It is when the child is old enough to interact with others at playgrounds, playschool, parks and any other venue they find themselves in, that parental or caregiver supervision is paramount.

The important overview here is that all children require street proofing and here are some of the tips that I have learned over the years:

• Always remember that rules and boundaries will never replace active supervision.

• Never leave your child unattended in a car or at any location out of your sight.

• Teach your child to never talk to strangers or take any gifts from them, e.g. candy.

• Teach your child what figures are actually safe to talk to e.g. other children, teachers, police officers, firemen.

• Instruct your child to report suspicious advances to the nearest authority figure such as a teacher.

• Teach your child how to dial 911 and never to do it unless someone is ill or injured and no other adult is nearby.

• Always know who your children play with and make the effort to meet their parents.

• Instruct your child to report every incident of bullying to the school office and parents.  By dealing with each situation immediately, the offender will quickly get the picture.

• Accompany your children to and from school and to all other locations.

• Do practice runs and hypothetical scenarios to test your child’s response knowledge.

Keeping your children safe has never been so difficult, thanks to an increasing number of predators and bullies in our neighbourhoods.  Parents who are facing these threats every day must be creative in their teaching so as to educate but not unnecessarily frighten their kids.
